Brittany
is one of the regions of France. Located at the North West tip and
its 2500km of coastline is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the
west and south and the English Channel to the north.
Around 270km long and between 100 and 150km wide it covers an
area of some 32000sq.km.
The northern coastline is rocky with some high cliffs and narrow
river estuaries which contrasts greatly with the southern lower lying
coastline which is less jagged and has wider river estuaries.
The coastline is dotted with islands both large and small, some
inhabited by people and some by sea birds.
All in all it is geography is very impressive and no
matter where you are in Brittany it will never be more than 75 km
from the sea.
Its climate is wet throughout the winter but mild and often
very hot in the summer. There is a noticeable temperature difference
between the north and south coasts. In the summer months this can be
several degrees higher on the southern coast. |
