ERQUY. (22)
Seven beaches, a shellfish port, a warm friendly atmosphere and magnificent walks make Erquy known as the "station familiale" of the Emerald coast. In the 19th century a number of historians believed that it was located on the alleged site of Reginea, a former Gallo-Roman settlement. On the edge of the road leading to Cap d'Erquy stand two small guardrooms which are the remains of Vauban's fortifications. A curious construction nearby is a very rare example of a cannonball factory whose purpose was to manufacture cannonballs for the artillery batteries to fire at the approaching English ships.
