CARANTEC. (29)
The inhabitants of the small port town of Carantec situated on the north coast of Finistere had a peaceful existence living from the money earned by the local fishing industry until the turn of the 20th century. When the hotelier Edmond Pouthier fell in love with the beauty of the coast around Carentec and very quickly turned Carantec into the most popular resort on the Breton coast. Within a few years a plethora of splendid houses had sprung up in and around the town but most of these have since disappeared. The town, situated on a peninsula between the estuary of the Penzé and the Morlaix river, is now a very popular family holiday resort with several beautiful bathing beaches.

Tourism has not diminished the charm of the town and visitor will find lots of interesting sites in and around Carantec.
