Information about driving in Brittany

If your coming from the UK, THINK RIGHT.
In all European countries, drive on the right hand side of the road.
France is no exception, however there is one major rule to remember - 'priorite a droit'.
If you see this sign you must give way to vehicles approaching from the right.
In towns you must always give priority to vehicles approaching from the right.
French drivers know they have the right of way, they will pull out (without even looking)
Take care at junctions, if in doubt, slow down and stop.

Speed Limits
Toll motorways* 130km/h, wet 110km/h, Non Toll Motorways 110km/h, other roads 90 km/h, built up areas 50km/h - the town name starts the limit, a bar through the town name marks the end of the limit.
On the spot fines are imposed on speeding offences ranging from 90 euros upwards.

The use or possession or devices to detect police radar is illegal in France. Penalties are severe and can include a fine, driving ban, and even imprisonment.

Accidents
If a vehicle is damaged you should fill out "European Accident Statement" form, which comes with the hire vehicle documents. If you need to call the police or an ambulance, dial 15 (ambulance) or 17 (police) or the European standard 112 emergency number.
